AV资源proudly contributes to Young Africa Works project in Kenya

AV资源delegates in Kenya

In October, delegates from AV资源travelled to Voi, Kenya to visit partners from the Coast Institute of Technology (CIT) as part of the Young Africa Works project, sponsored by the (CiCan) and funded by Mastercard Foundation.

The AV资源delegation included Jennifer Gossen and Chelsea Laird from the International Education department, Chefs Ysabel Sukic and Tobias Grignon from Culinary Arts, and instructor Karin Jones from Jewellery and Gemmology.

During their time in Kenya, the AV资源team visited the CIT campus to work with instructors and trainers in Gemology and Culinary. They also connected with CIT's gender mainstreaming committee and attended events to celebrate the Day of the Girl. This visit was an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions and build capacity for CIT in program development, teaching and assessment.

"It was great to connect with CIT instructors and share ideas for teaching and learning," says Chef Ysabel, department head of AV资源Culinary Arts

Upon their visit to the Voi Gemstone Centre, the AV资源team explored development opportunities for the CIT gemmology program, specifically in supporting locals in identifying gemstones, empowering them to create jewellery for global markets, and creating a community of entrepreneurship among women.

"This partnership between AV资源and CIT allows both institutions to learn from each other," says Jennifer Gossen, director of AV资源International Education. "It's also an opportunity to enhance our global engagement and support capacity building with global partners."

Many thanks to the faculty, staff and administrators at AV资源who have worked together on important outputs for this project.
